After months of build-up, the London 2012 Olympics are finally upon us.
The Games kicked-off with the men and women’s football this week and will officially get underway after tonight’s Opening Ceremony in the Olympic Stadium, Stratford.
The Greatest Show on Earth will showcase some of the planet’s finest sportsmen and women and the competition is set to be fierce.

Here at fanatix, we’re well and truly caught up in the spirit of the occasion and we’ve decided to offer three great prizes to the most fanatical followers of the Games.
Throughout the next two weeks of sporting action, we’ll be running an Olympic Leaderboard and the fanatix who accumulate the most points to finish first, second and third will win a Gold, Silver and Bronze prize respectively.
As well as for checking-in to any of the 304 Olympic events, points can be accumulated by making predictions, sharing via Facebook and Twitter and encouraging friends to check-in too. There’s loads of other ways you can earn valuable points and climb the leaderboard, so get checking in and discover for yourself!
The overall winner with the most points will, of course, collect the Gold - winning them £100 worth of prizes from the official Olympic shop.
The Silver prize is £50 worth of Olympic goodies, while our Bronze medalist will win £20 to spend.
The leaderboard is for users of our iPhone and iPad mobile applications and it’s simple to start accumulating points.
To help you get started, we’ve identified a few of the top Olympic events taking place in the next few days.
