Lille are ready to offer Joe Cole a way out of his Anfield nightmare by offering £4m for the ageing playmaker in January, reports CaughtOffside.

Cole is yet to start a league game for Liverpool this season and was hauled off at half-time in the Reds disappointing 3-1 home to defeat to Swansea in Wednesday’s League Cup clash.

The 31-year-old looked dreadfully off the pace and boss Brendan Rodgers is understood to be keen to sell the former Chelsea star, who earns close to £85,000 per week, in the new year.

Cole enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Stade Metropole last season, helping Rudi Garcia’s side earn a Champions League berth.

Things have not gone well for Les Dogues since the Englishman’s exit, with Lille currently 10th in Ligue 1, with just three wins from their opening ten matches.

Fans have reportedly demanded investment in the January transfer window and Garcia is ready to make a £4m bid for Cole, which Rodgers is likely to accept as he looks to build up a transfer kitty for a new striker.
